Meet John Wood from Marshfield, just east of Charlottetown, PEI. John is the 4th generation to farm at Craggan Farm Ltd., a proud family farm that’s been in the Wood family for over 100 years. He farms alongside his parents, David and Barb, his wife Jill, and their three children — Jonah, Samantha, and Zachary.
They milk 60 cows in a tie stall barn using a pipeline system, with the herd enjoying pasture for five months of the year. With 23 years of experience, John says his favourite part of dairy farming is caring for the animals and the land, while producing high-quality milk.
To anyone considering a future in dairy farming, John says: “It’s a lot of hard work, but a rewarding career where you're always learning and improving — and it’s a great way to raise a family.”
