This weeks Behind the Barn segment featuring Extondale Farms Ltd.
Meet Alex and Andrea MacPherson from Oyster Bed, PEI—proud third-generation dairy farmers at Extondale Farms Ltd., where they’re raising their three daughters, Ella, Ainsley, and Maria. On their family farm, they milk 100 Holstein cows in a traditional tie-stall barn using a pipeline system.
Alex took over the farm from his parents, Exton and Elaine, in 2011, continuing a legacy that began with his grandfather, Daniel MacPherson.
“There’s always something to learn,” says Alex, who’s been farming for as long as he can remember. His favourite part? Working with the cows every day—and raising a family alongside it.
